Ceiling Finishing

Flawless Ceilings, Finished to Perfection

Gyraffe ceiling finishing systems turn rough concrete soffits and board ceilings into smooth, seamless, paint-ready surfaces. Engineered for excellent overhead adhesion and minimal shrinkage, they resist cracking and deliver a refined finish.

From skim-coat finishing to full soffit plastering and crack repair, each system is matched to the ceiling substrate and the level of finish required.

How It's Done

Overhead plastering demands strict surface preparation and bonding — this is the standard ceiling finishing sequence.

Substrate Inspection

Assess the soffit or board for soundness, laitance and moisture; mechanically remove any laitance or shutter-release residue.

Remove all laitance from concrete soffits before bonding.

Bonding Agent

Apply a high-grip bonding agent to the soffit to ensure overhead adhesion and prevent fall-off.

Essential on smooth, dense concrete soffits.

Levelling Coat

Apply the gypsum levelling coat in controlled thicknesses, working to datum points for a flat plane.

Build up in thin passes overhead to avoid sag.

Skim & Finish

Apply the finish skim and trowel to a smooth, dense surface, polishing with water as it sets.

Two tight passes give the best paint-ready finish.

Cure & Inspect

Protect from drafts and rapid drying; inspect under raking light for flatness and trowel marks.

Inspect with a raking light before painting.
