Cornices are either pre-cast and fixed, or run in-situ. This is the standard pre-cast installation sequence.
Measure runs and mark consistent guide lines on wall and ceiling for a true, level cornice line.
Snap chalk lines to keep long runs perfectly straight.
Cut lengths and form mitred internal and external corners for seamless joints.
Cut mitres slightly long and trim to a tight fit.
Bed the cornice on gypsum adhesive, press home along the guide lines, and support until set.
Fill the back with adhesive for a gap-free bond.
Fill joints, mitres and fixing points, then blend flush with the profile.
Reinforce long-run joints to prevent hairline cracks.
Lightly sand, detail the profile by hand, and prepare the surface for paint.
