How It's Done

Cornices are either pre-cast and fixed, or run in-situ. This is the standard pre-cast installation sequence.

Measure & Set Out

Measure runs and mark consistent guide lines on wall and ceiling for a true, level cornice line.

Snap chalk lines to keep long runs perfectly straight.

Cut & Mitre

Cut lengths and form mitred internal and external corners for seamless joints.

Cut mitres slightly long and trim to a tight fit.

Fix & Bed

Bed the cornice on gypsum adhesive, press home along the guide lines, and support until set.

Fill the back with adhesive for a gap-free bond.

Joint & Fill

Fill joints, mitres and fixing points, then blend flush with the profile.

Reinforce long-run joints to prevent hairline cracks.

Sand & Finish

Lightly sand, detail the profile by hand, and prepare the surface for paint.

Detail intricate relief before priming and painting.
